What I Should Say

What I Should Say

A Poem by Maddi Snowden

I wish you would see that
when you treat me like dirt
you're adding to a mountain
of words I never said and
feelings I should have forgotten.

You should know that the reason
I'm so cold is from constantly
letting you open
the door to my heart and
not shutting it after you've made
a mess of me.

But the next time,
you come knocking
know that it's already
been locked because
I'm sick of being
a pawn in your game
instead of a person
in your life.
