What They All SayA Poem by Maddi Snowden
A boy once told me
that he loved my body and wanted to trace his fingers down my spine. He left ghost kisses and lingered in my mind for many months. A boy once told me that I was the girl version of him and I couldn't decided if that was a good thing considering his many flaws. He left me questions and forgot to give me the answers to them. A boy once told me that he didn't want to lose me as a friend and I wanted to know if he ever intended to take things further. He left me a bucket list of plans and gave me no one to do them with. A boy will tell me that I am snowflakes screaming by a sleepy car on an empty highway Christmas Eve night--beauty overlooked and under appreciated but not easily forgotten. He will leave me unguarded and for once in my life, I will be okay with that. (M.S.)
