LuckyA Poem by Maddi Snowden
Lucky is the person who holds you close
and protects your heart like it's their job, like it's their only job. Lucky is the person who dances their thumb across the top of your hand, who causes that lovely laugh you hate so much. Lucky is the person who sees you as radiant, a beacon in the sky, the center of their gravity. Lucky is the person who can tickle your toes, who can make you pancakes even though you prefer waffles. Lucky is the person who can make you feel as breathtaking as you really are without saying a word from their mouth. Lucky is the person who caresses your unguarded heart on nights like these, nights with loneliness building it's wall, it's habitat because I know that one time you almost let the loneliness get to you but trust me when I say that lucky is the person who makes you see that you have purpose and potential because you are intelligent and brave and you are worth so much more than you give yourself credit for. Lucky is the person who makes you see that nothing is as scary as we make it out to be because one time you called me and I was asleep and I should've answered because lucky is the person who gets to pick up those late night calls and hear your cracked voice on the other end and they are lucky to hold you close and whisper in your ear everything I'm dying for you to hear because lucky is the person who can love you senselessly and listen to s****y music on late night drives with you and cherish every moment cause even though you hated when I sung along, it still made you laugh and embarrassing myself for your enjoyment is more than I could ask for and lucky is the person who can walk in your shoes and take you to lunch and make you feel as special as you truly are. Lucky is the person you finally let in. And I wish I have the chance to be this lucky person but I am already lucky enough to have known you. (M.S.)
