Feeling Colors

Feeling Colors

A Poem by Maddi Snowden

The passion in our breaths as we lay
intertwined after hours of laughing and
planting roses all over one another.

It's laughter after a joke on the line, laughter
that breaks the silence and leads to a night
full  of unforgettable memories with the friends
who will never leave.

The first cheerful day after a week of sorrows, it is
smiling at strangers and the twinkle in their eye
when they see you do so.

A day spent wandering the city with a new look,
fresh flowers and the idea that spring
means better things to come.

Sighing onto last night lover's neck in the dead
of night while tracing the pattern of their skin like
constellations, connecting the stars
with kisses.

Bruises in the sky on a night where alcohol is
kissing my lips instead of my other half, where
cigarette smoke becomes oxygen, when
the word "lonely" consumes me.

Love the constellation metaphor. Would of loved more ties to that as a centre of universe metaphor. Very good. Its ok when a song ends on minor note.
