All the Boys Who Love MeA Poem by Maddi SnowdenThere’s a boy who only tells me I’m beautiful after he’s smoked a joint. He cares about his family and cars but says I’ve squeezed into his heart. There’s a boy who only tells me I’m beautiful when I’m half-naked on his chest with my lips pressed to his neck. He cares about his future but can’t say for certain I’ll be in it. There’s a boy who’s dying to tell me I’m beautiful but is afraid I might not respond correctly. He cares about life, music, and making memories but won’t share any of them with me. There’s a boy I have yet to discover who thinks my eyes are new leaves and my smile, a crescent moon. He’ll never need to tell me I’m beautiful. He’ll make me feel it. (M.S.)
