Untitled No. 1

Untitled No. 1

A Poem by Maddi Snowden

He walks with steps almost as heavy
as the burdens he must carry.

And she wants to tell him that
his hazel eyes look like
lakes in mid-June
but all she can spit out are
unfinished thoughts and sentences
ending in "nevermind"s and
"I don't know"s.

All she wants him to know is that
he is a poem with feet
and she is dying to fall asleep
to his heartbeat and perhaps
she is not the answer to the
millions of questions that lay
rattled in his mind with
other 3 am thoughts.

Maybe the answer to the
questions he has isn't another
person but rather something
only he can discover.

She's just hoping she can be
there when he does so.
