Somewhere, Anywhere, Nowhere

Wherever you go, can I go to?

It's always yes, no, or maybe so.

Except today when I asked you never said a word.

I knew exactly what you had to say.

You would have said I had to stay.

We all have places to go.

Only not at the same time.

Whether it's up or down.

Or side to side.

North or south.

Or west to east.

Except what about me?

I don't know where I'm going.

Or if the place is real.

Could it be I'm going nowhere,

Down a dead end trail?

Or maybe I'm going somewhere?

Somewhere farther than this town.

Or maybe I'm going anywhere?

Everywhere to anywhere.

Or maybe I'm stuck.

In this very complicated rut.

Everyone is gone now.

There is no one left.

Because they found their path.

I, of course, have not.

Found a path to-

somewhere, anywhere, or nowhere.
