A Poem by Mackenzie Palma

3 words. 8 letters.

“I love you”

As you whispered these three simple words, the hairs on my neck stood erect and a shiver traveled down my spine. An invigorating sensation shot through every part of my body. You pulled me close to you and suddenly, everything felt at ease. As if everything was right in the world. As I lay my head on your chest, I felt the warmth emanating from your body. As you gently kissed my forehead, I felt a sense of serenity overcome me. I looked up at you with the ceaseless smile of mine only to catch your silly little smirk reflecting back at me. Your crystal blue eyes affixed with mine and suddenly, all my troubles went away. A wave of silence filled the room, only to be broken by my faint reply.

“I love you”

And, in that moment I realized it was you.

"

It was always going to be you.
