Chapter One

Chapter One

A Chapter by Jasmine A. Mack

My alarm clock awoke me at exactly six o' clock a.m. and i shot out of bed faster than a bullet. Today was my first day of middle school! I could barely concentrate on my breakfast as I thought about how the day would be! I would meet new friends and hopefully I would be popular, just like I was at my old school. I had joined the cheer squad since I did gymnastics and I was pumped for my first day at Mount Carmel Christian Academy, or MCCA. I had ever been to a private christian school but I had heard the people were supposed to be nicer.

Excitement pulsed through my veins as we pulled in next to the red brick building.
"Bye Mom! I love you!" I said and hopped out of the car.
"Love you too Sweetie Pie!" I smiled as I walked into school. My mom always was calling me names like Sweet Pea, Sweetie Pie, Honey, Bunny, and other stuff like that.
When I passed through those doors, a sudden realization hit me. I didn't know anyone. I walked around and tried to find someone to talk to. I finally found this girl who I had met at cheerleading tryouts, Maddie.
"Hey Maddie," I said as I awkwardly tried to include myself in their little clique.
"Oh hi Alex!" Maddie said and smiled at me. "Uh Alex, this is Milly and Emma. Milly and Emma, this is Alex."
Emma smiled and waved at me while Milly gave me a dirty look. I felt somewhat offended but shook it off. What had I done to her?
Then the bell rang.
"Bye guys!" I said and walked off to Mrs.Wilder's room, which according to my schedule was my homeroom.
I walked into the classroom and felt like an ant. I knew I was the youngest in the class, I had barely made it past the cut-off, but these people were giants. Especially the guy who looked like a typical jock with brown hair standing with a group of guys and this one dark haired girl with glasses that was standing off to the side reading.
I found my way to the desk that had my name on it and sat down plopping my new backpack on the floor. Everybody seemed to be talking. Even the girl next to me with curly blondish brown hair. I glanced over at her name on her desk. Cecilia. That was her name.
"Hey, I'm Meg." I turned to see a freckled face lined with black hair smiling at me. It was the girl who had been talking to Cecilia.
"Oh, hey. I'm Alex."
Cecilia turned toward me. "And I'm Cecilia."
I grinned slightly. "Hi."
We talked for a while. Mostly about school. Mostly about boys. I learned that the tall jock boy's name was Ruddy and that the pair of twins he was talking to were Graham and Reed. Strange names...
As we were talking, I noticed the dark haired tall girl had made her way over here and was trying to talk to us. Meg and Cecilia were ignoring her, so I decided to go and talk to her.
"Hello," I said. "My name is Alex, I'm new here."
The girl beamed. "I'm Olivia. I'm new here too."
We laughed and discussed books we had read until homeroom was over. Little did I know I had just made a friend that would always stick by my side.
