Just Another Love Story

Just Another Love Story

A Poem by Jasmine A. Mack

The cold, ruthless wind of jealousy nipped at my newly broken heart.
I cried a thousand tears today and I didn't need them to start again.
It's not like I had never expected for me and him to fall apart.
But now it was like reality kicked in,
as I saw her twiggy, clingy arm wrapped around him.
She didn't deserve him, and I thought he would know better.
Obviously, I was wrong about more than just that.
I wished I could push her away and claim him mine again,
But sadly I knew if I even tried, I probably wouldn't win.
Hatred, sorrow, and envy gnawed at my soul.
I just couldn't take it anymore.
I ran out of the school at sat on the front steps,
and I didn't take kindly to the sound of foot steps.
I just hid my face and hoped they would leave before anyone else noticed me.
I felt a sudden warmth on my freezing hand,
I looked up and looked into eyes I couldn't withstand.
A familiar face in a new light.
My best friend looked at me with a concerned face and I smiled.
I had a new joy no one could efface.
A lucid love that was covert until this day.
Just another love story..

Ends and beginnings... dreams and wish-they-weres. You touched loss and anger, hurt, and defeat- a touch of despair... renewal and hope... light...
You proved humans are fractals all over again...

No words were killed, stomped, or abused in the production of this review/comment.
