Made of Dust

Made of Dust

A Poem by Mark Verndick

We're a collection of dust playing with the wind

Carried away at the moment

Blown away relentlessly

Oblivious of the rain that is about to come,

The rain that will drive us away together

And will attempt to stop the fun forever

Well, was it really all about the fun?

or was it about the long way run?

Was it about who came

or was it about who stayed?

Was it about who was lost or

was it about who found his way back to you again?

We're made of dust

We're made to be carried away

Any time, any moment this day

You might lose me or should I

Lose myself or lose you all

With time we all rely

This is all a great design

of dust playing with the wind,

of people swaying with the breeze,

of feeling things with unease,

of giving birth, living, withering, and dying,

of living and being relived,

of seeking and hiding,

of losing meaning and finding it once again.

Wait. Let me think.

It doesn't matter. We're all dust anyway.

This is absolute truth. Mankind is forever captured in this vague reality, played and moulded upon as needed by those sitting in the higher order. Man fails to realise that deep inside, he is nothing. Just mere dust.

This is a poem that accurately captures not only the ephemerality of man, but is insularity as well! You did a great job writing this! Nicely done!
