Wishing WellA Poem by RebeccaA poem about human suffering and hope... and how futile the latter can be.With heavy heart and sorrowed soul a shadowed path I walk alone, Upon my mind a single goal to barter with a wall of stone, Many a dream and fear it`s kept and many to it a coin have chucked, I tread the last remaining step and from my pocket a penny pluck, I tell of hurt and pain and fear, of cruelty, death, and war, The loss of things once held most dear now shamefully ignored, I tell of ignorance and lies, decete and broken word, of harm humanity denies, all the things that I`ve endured, I pause but for a moment there as sadness turns to rage, The cruelty that once thought was rare now constantley engaged, "Curse you penny, curse you well, no longer do I wish to dwell! Speak my story far and wide!" and into it my penny fell, but alas, I know, he'll never tell... © 2011 RebeccaReviews
