A poem that came to me that was inspired from a story idea I had.

The City of Oceri

By Malcolm Johnson

In the vast, endless sea of stars

As asteroids sail on their adventures

Swimming in the explosive nova blurs

Far from Earth, a mere myth to Mars

A dreaming city known by few

Radiant light sets the skyline ablaze

A shroud of fairy dusts sparkling haze

Warm like the fires dragons brew

Domed glass pillars stand tall and proud

The craftwork of artists, showing their feats

Red carpeted roads stretch over the streets

Named for wise kings, where people crowd

The streets are perfumed by fine ale

Through bookstores, gem shops, tailors, feasting halls

Laughter and merriment shake the inn walls

As the queen rules over her vale

But underneath the glimmering

Lies, evil and sickness are simmering

It howls frigidly through the dungeons

Through torture racks and crypts it runs

I watch the people

Unaware
