Reflections

A poem about self-perception and the struggle to see ourselves beyond how others define us. 'Reflections' explores the journey of embracing our fragments and finding a sense of home within ourselves.

Reflections

I wonder how I live inside their eyes-

am I a shape they’ve made, a stranger in disguise?

Do they see only pieces, broken and blurred,

or shadows of truths I’ve never heard?

I feel their gaze, sharp as a blade,

a mirror reflecting what I’m most afraid:

that I’m more unknown than known, even to me,

adrift between who I am and who I seem to be.

But here in the quiet, just me and the night,

I breathe in the dark, let go of the fight,

and whisper to shadows I struggle to see,

“I’m learning to be gentle with the fragments of me.”

Because maybe I’m not just what others decide,

maybe I’m more than what I feel I must hide.

I gather the pieces, the ones I have known,

and trust they will lead me to call myself home.
