Behind the Selfie

Happy crowd with me in the center
Carpet of smiles with pain swept under
Masking grief for a perfect picture
What emotions will this portrait render?

Share this moment of pure self-pamper
Climb my wall and do take a gander
Burn with envy, I am a trend setter
In your life, I bet I put a damper

A thousand likes but still seems lighter
Pills galore to make life brighter
Fills the cracks with conceited primer
Side effects are only minor

Countless friends but none sincere
Unaware of the pain of his peer
Another night, lived the life of a loner
Like me now or soon I am a goner.

I think selfie is also a way to imply that there is no one to show us concern take a picture of ours, or it may also be a way to imply self-dependence. I have always ended showing selfies as my only pictures. Good poem.

Being a loner is not a bad thing and what you feel about yourself is more important than the view of others. Unfortunately as humans with thrive on the praise of others. Personally my friends are fewer and now I have more acquaintances This is a very well written piece and well crafted. Thank you for sharing.

I really liked this one - rhymes well, flows well and there's a lot of truth in it. Speaks a lot about the personality of the person - wanting attention and willing to put up and image and push others down for it.

I'm confused about what the line "A thousand likes but still seems lighter" means though (particularly the second part).
