A Brother To a SisterA Poem by M. ColemanI wrote this to my sister on her birthday, I suppose after removing all personal annotation this is a great thing to show to any good sister.
From the start it was a bond made strongNever mattered whether the day was short or long So much hatred without realization of what the future would hold Growing older with teasing and belittling is what we sold Taking the time to understand each other rarely took place Bickering, fighting and pranks were the language we did replace However, the time grew long and we grew apart We went our different roads and from the house we did depart No one can understand the link brother and sister attain No one can be so different and still so close they remain Every time we're in a hole the other runs to our side Every time we're happy the others respect can't hide We may have grown old together by being at the throat But now that we're living individually there's something we both note Forever and always the other is right at our finger tip Watching and waiting for the throat of any offender to rip You and I have many things to reminisce about of course However none of these things, good or bad will we ever remorse You are my sister. Flesh and blood may bond us true But it is more than that which holds our hearts close like glue I love everything my sister does be it bad or good Because at the end of the day, I'll be there to pull her through like a good brother should. © 2011 M.
