Words

Words

A Poem by M J Hutton

I’ve words in my head all day.

Lifting a word from a conversation,

Using a metaphor from an

Overheard expostulation,

I’ve words in my head all day.

I’ve words in my head all day.

Stolen rapports on a train destination,

Plagiarizing a phrase from

A corner shop counter,

I’ve words in my head all day.

I’ve words on my mind all day.

Juggling the multitude, dissolving

The platitudes, Inspired by lovers,

And drunks on the last bus,

I’ve words on my mind all day.

I’ve poems in my head all day.

From the sweetest intention, the

Divine intervention, the violent,

The brave, the robust, the brash,

I’ve poems in my head all day.
