Demise Of The Affair

Demise Of The Affair

A Poem by M J Hutton

Shades of pink, tint the sky

As the day collapses.

And the oven like heat

That the day has been producing,

Continues to run

With the gas full on.

I feel safe in the knowledge,

That one day,

You will not…

Read, about my death.

You’ll be, in a bar

Or at work.

Perhaps in the arms of one

That you believe,

To be everything.

And you’ll reflect

And remember…

Certain hours,

We shared together.

Does anyone really believe?

That love at first sight

Exists?…

Maybe…

Yet,

For one stretched second,

I believed it did.

But then it died.

I no longer

Want to hide,

Behind this person

That people,

Have come to see me as.
