A Note From Me To YouA Poem by lyssI long for the days I sat on her lap, The rocking lulling me to sleep. To think of all the times she picked me up And brushed the tears off my cheeks. I owe my mom so much.
I remember crawling up to her With a pencil and a paper To sit next to her chair as she talked on the phone. I knew I wasn't to interrupt her work, But I couldn't help but be drawn to her. After all she was my mom I used to play this little game Where I would write On the paper "Do you love me? Circle YES or NO" Of course she smiled And waved her hand beckoning me to leave. For she had to work to pay the bills And give us something to eat. But everyday in my room Before i'd go to bed She'd slip the note under my door And it was always circled YES. I LOVE MY MAMA And I always will. Though I am not with her now And hardly get to see her. I think of those days when I was young Sitting beneath her feet. And a little smile comes to my mouth when I think of YES. © 2013 lyssReviews
