A Poet's Inspiration

Oh, to have a boyfriend that's a poet.

Sometimes I sit and stare

As he types with his little glare.

His eyes focused on his work,

Intent to fill the world with words.

 

What could be more inspiring than to have words woven in front of you?

He sometimes spouts off rhymes

Silly ones that make me smile,

Or serious ones that make me crave the comfort of a warm body.

 

It is an experience seeing one so caught up

 In the beauty of everything

In the beauty of life

In the beauty of words

The spoken, the written, the heard.

 

I could only wish to be

Half as inspired

A quarter as talented

An eighth as in touch.

I live for the days that he gets lost in words

I hope for the days when his words will be heard.

 

Oh, to have a boyfriend who's a poet.

The ups and downs,

 The drama,

The disappointments,

The victories.

 

And then I realized...

Oh, to be a poet

And have a boyfriend

And experience life.

 

Guess I have something to inspire me after all.

You do have inspiration, and that is a beautiful thing. I have often mused at having a counterpart who is an artist/poet/writer, and I can imagine the feeling of watching him work; the mind untangling thoughts and putting them to paper. A few little technical issues...perhaps some changing of some of the wording and possibly a small edit for some "wordiness", but in the end, this is sentimental and inspiring. Well done.
