Flavors of ShadeA Poem by Indra's ChildI watch a shadow crawl over my ceiling. It really crawls, with tendrils seeking new ground to cover, A great patch of life that seems inevitable, Likened to the shelf-life of a good lover, Now undercovers, They sell what they seek, Machiavellian tendencies, Orchestrated against the forces of open territories, Forbidding sighs of pleasure with a curt not to the horizon, Feeling fleeting foes, now fallen, Like leaves on the surface of a pond frozen, Forces me to wonder if, indeed, I put the fire out.
