Valentines Day

Valentines Day

A Poem by Indra's Child

Paper hearts,

And paper dolls,

Lining up in single file,

Sick fashion,

Everlasting,

Until the end of the day,

Twelve at night,

Queasy with

Cheap chocolate and,

...was there wine?

Questioning everything,

"Does he love me?",

"Is it real?",

"Is she my paramore?".

Nothing more,

Than an opportunity,

To make some cash,

Or love to someone else,

With a cheap bottle of,

Body spray,

And a tacky card.

Or maybe,

With the right person,

That would change....

I have found Valentines Day to be a more and more.... missable holiday as I've gotten older. I think it's an easy one to expect a lot out of and be disappointed in because (at least for me) February just is a bad month for holidays. All that being said and even though I like to think of myself as a pretty cynical person, I don't think that you ever stop hoping for that change either.
