Love, In Defiance
A Poem by Indra's Child
LoveYou stand battered in the wind Like a worn statue Never to give in Love Your feet frozen into place Your flesh bloodied and bruised Yet still on the chase Love A boxer getting punched out It's hard to stand up Brutal to stay down My love Fighting Against the world Solely for you Your love You keep the battle online Between the wolves and hounds In my burning mind Love I cannot see through the fog Without your blinding light Fighting the darkness Eternal plight Love In defiance

Again, another hit, Murky! You display this theme of resilience extremely well and very effectively. There is a constant attitude of "I love you, and I will live for it, die for it, fight all the armies of Hades for it, stand in denial of a king..." Reminds me a teenager first perception of love (which is another topic entirely, one extremely debated :))... there is that sense of doing anything through the intoxicating force of love...

Oh yes, it is very much coming from a (slightly childish) teenage perception. I find that this version of 'love', though, is pretty caustic. It eats itself and still isn't satisfied.
I only wish I was as resiliant as I express on here, lol

On the note of caustic love to this poem- I get your point. After rereading the poem with those two words in mind, I totally see it. Being a hero, or loving, will hurt you, and only you can decide if it was worth your pain...

I'd wager yes, only because it's what made me who I am, given me expierience so that I might be able to help others. Hmm. I know some would say hell no, and that's only fair. I think it's just that I'm standing on the other side of it now that it's easier to see.

It is hard to make any logical calls when either in pain or love... or maybe the easiest it will ever be

Truly, logic can only ever fail you when in love or pain. But, as a rule, it's never wrong.

Hmm. I'm going to go smoke a Newport and ponder existence... Thank you for talking with me. It's not too often I find someone to talk to about the deep stuff. 🙏🛸

Good discussion, Murky, I enjoyed your thoughts. Deep conversations are the best.
