A King

A poem about a King who will not be moved from his throne. Inspired by Viva La Vida by Coldplay.

A King
A king sits upon a lonely throne

Lost in time he sits alone

Once there was light in his eyes

Now only darkness lies within

His kingdom has fallen

To the forces of evil

Many soldiers lay upon the cobblestone

His castle is crumbling to the ground

Yet he does not get up from the throne

For the king’s deeds he must atone

He holds his sword close to his waist

He will never leave his place

The king must never run away

For this is the world he must stay

Even against the hate

It’s never too late
