Chapter 4: The EscapeA Chapter by lydie
Rachel looked around. She was now on the ground floor, and the door to go outside was several yards away. But it was blocked by Mr. McGanoff's bodyguards. One rushed at her, but Rachel dodged. She turned around and kicked the bodyguard in the back, sending him towards the first stair, and it knocked him out. 4 left to go. Rachel extended her hand at 2 of them and said, "You will now freeze, so I can leave with ease." Them 2 froze in place, only their eyes moving around, watching everything.
The 2 last ones were so in shock, their eyes rolled back into their heads and the fainted. "Well that was easy." Rachel said, though there was only about a quarter of green energy left. Then Rachel heard pattering of paws, a growl, and a muffled bark. She spun around to see Izzie's mouth clamped around Richard's left calf. Richard had managed to sneak around Rachel because she was occupied with the guards, and she was so tired in the magical way! Richard was holding a frying pan, and it clattered to the floor as Richard registered the bite. "AAAH!" Richard screamed. Izzie let go, her muzzle now crimson with blood, and Richard with his eyes shut, hopped around while holding his left leg. Richard tripped and slammed his forehead on the edge of the couch, and he fainted. Izzie growled some more, but Rachel whistled and Izzie ran to Rachel's side. They bolted for the door after they heard police sirens, and ran into the woods near their house. They didn't stop running until Rachel was sure no one was following them. "Good girl, Izzie! Now, I know you're tired, but can you please find us a creek or stream? I would do it, but I am so drained." Rachel cooed. "Sure, but then I am taking a long nap. Okay?" Izzie panted. "Okay. We'll rest near a stream, then find a nice place to live. Not these woods though. They'll likely search for us here. Maybe a nice big forest. Wait, I remember in a book I read, there was the only forest in the world untouched by man, 2 states over, in West Virginia." Rachel was saying as they walked. "Sounds like a plan." Izzie agreed. © 2015 lydie |
