The Maze

The Maze

A Poem by Lakshmi Ramesh

There is a maze I recently found

It was in the middle of a concrete jungle

Many warned me against entering it

Many told me it’s worth the risk

But none of their opinions affected my final decision

There was just something there

Something worth exploring

This maze is very complicated

So much that you don’t know if it ever ends

This one is not about getting to the other side

It’s about getting to the center

The center that will take time to discover

The center that nobody is sure exists

It’s the center that may be too beautiful or too scary

You never know

But the curiosity is so much that you have to explore

This maze is dark " pitch dark

You don’t know where you’re going

It’s all about intuition & experience

That’s all that helps you move forward

Many a times, in the dark you will have to go back and forth

Mostly because you’d often reach dead " ends

But impatience is prohibited here

Only patience would get you to move on

This maze is unpredictable

Sometimes it throws at you thorns

Sometimes a jet of cool breeze

Sometimes it opens to a beautiful garden

Of flowers exotic and unique

Sometimes it opens to a barren land

Where no seeds can be sown

This unpredictability is what keeps me hooked

The uncertainty unnerving but interesting

This maze is made of bones, blood and muscles

And of intellect, emotion and talent

This maze doesn’t realize what is the wonder within it

This maze is something that is sometimes fragile

Despite it’s hard exterior that most bother to see

This maze is a maze I never intend to stop exploring

This maze is a maze I recommend everyone should try traversing
