The Noisy Silence

The Noisy Silence

A Poem by Lakshmi Ramesh

The silence that is noisy,
That's what this is.
No words are spoken,
But thoughts thought in millions.
This silence is loud,
Loud enough for the whole world to sense it,
And yet no one does take a step
To put some tune in it.
It bothers all
But no one cares enough
To look past their own lives
And dish out their drums.
Why does she keep screaming
Inside her heart?
Why does she keep crying
Those invisible tears?
Is that how alone we've made her?
Is that how little humanity is?
Her silence is a song that needs no words,
For the world knows what it means
Her silence is a taunt to the world that is blind
Blind to her pain and grief.
All she needs is a hand of love,
Someone to count her tears.
All she needs is one true smile,
That brings her back to life.
