ours

ours

A Poem by Jennifer Welker

deep inside

like the ocean floor;

never knowing the true end

you grow

every day you grow

outside in a blur

all the colurs come together

as though in harmony

with a beat missing

all the dreams collide

seem to make sense somehow

you cry softly

though your screams hold captive

those who needlessly question

begging for a chance

knowing there is no such thing.

to be the one made from true love

and you are denied over and over

so far removed

as though watching from a cloud where angels gaurd.there could be hope

there could be happiness

there could be a future

but not anymore.

steel, cold as hateful eyes

under a warm, flushed viel

of nothing, of denial, of self importance.

and with that

you were gone

no celebration or tears

only colours

all vibrant and alone, like you

waiting patiently

to draw near

and overlap

for the next victim

steel, cold as vacant eyes

collecting a pool of tears.
