dance a proper dance

dance a proper dance

A Poem by Jennifer Welker

a game of wait for which i lay.
virtue in patience will absolve tragedy
and catapult a sincere act into a
mid summer stage, center, just shy of Gatsby.

poised and coiffed in proper social wear,
hats and gloves sipping tea while astray.
your neighbor's wife's moist lips ache
in anticipation of the rendezvous
for sunset marked the grassy knoll.

flushed checks on a mask of carnal lust
animal instinct prowess of a king
stealthily the hunter closes in on a pray
ravenous hunger in delicacy of breed.

parting as strangers seemingly untouched
after the wait proceeding game
for which you lay.

"your neighbor's wife's moist lips ache" .........That's a very nice line!
I cut and pasted some of your words from this poem into a stanza...this is just an example of how you can take something written, and find the same meaning, yet condense it into something simpler...it says the same thing though, but without the frills we sometimes get caught up in. That's why I always revisit a poem and make changes. some drastic, some just a tweak.

your neighbor's wife's moist lips ached
parting as strangers
in anticipation of a sincere act
for which they lay and wait
