Dancing to the Devil's Concerto

Dancing to the Devil's Concerto

A Poem by Jennifer Welker

Sing a thousand songs in the church of your grace!

And
watch the melodies
find their home
Buried
beneath
the synagogue
of your
truth.

Find shelter from the
torrential
downpour

Of hypocricy and
wayward
integrity
that
christens every
damned
soul.

Stand in
the
storm
of ecstasy
for a lifelong
moment

and then

Settle, comfortably,
in your
elevated
hell

The hell
you
personalized
because
you
chose
to live

Just
one
moment
Dancing
to
the
devil's
concerto
