heart's truth

heart's truth

A Poem by Jennifer Welker

in my head
i am somebody i am not.
in my posture
i demand respect that i gave up.
in my eyes
i am blinded by brilliant stars gone dull.
in my heart
is everyone i've lost along the way.

i caught myself wanting you to answer.
wanting to know why we had to force to fit.

     then i understood.
     i didn't want to know...
     because now i clearly see.

in my head
i am somebody i used to be,
not who i am today.
in my posture
i demand respect,
i gave up before you ever knew me.
in my eyes
i'm blinded by brilliant stars,
that noone else can see.

and, today,
what i've become wouldn't fit
with anyone.

THE TRUTH IS

in my heart
is everyone i've lost
along my way.

in my heart
all the words
i didn't say.

in my heart
every sunset i missed
at end of day.

along the way...

in my heart...

lost...

some things you just cant go back and edit huh, they are just right for that time.....but I like to get the basic theme, and favorite lines, and then turn it around to offer a before and after poem.....
