Tumbleweeds

Tumbleweeds

A Poem by luthien7
"

FREE BIRD!!!!... I mean, uh, Free Verse...

"

Love is relative to perspective

(concerning bills paid, kids, the Joneses)

and maintenance--

so tools -- or the lack there of -- are important.

But the kitchen's never cold,

          except for bare feet stuck

          to linoleum

or that growing protrusion

          (oh, surprise! Surprise?)

coming between us.

So my mouth never gaped,

                                  eyes never widened,

                       heart never skipped,

when, in his monotone of merrymaking,

I found the cat-calls to the girl who made the desert of his mouth

         (tumbleweeds in her eyes).

Nothing dead can die.

Keeping in perspective that tools

               (or the lack there of)

            are important.

"Love is relative to perspective."

Interesting line, indeed. That has got to be the verse that caught me most. Aye, but I'm a hapless romantic trying to stuff that into an iron box (for now).

Good use of "tools," ha. So, what of powertools then, eh?
