Smother

Smother

A Poem by Luna's Words
"

Based on: "You mustn't plant flowers in people's hearts if you don't intend on watering them."

"
You mustn't plant flowers in people's hearts
if you do not intend on watering them.
Don't create a garden only to give up
when fall comes around.
'I don't know how to love you', you said
as you ripped my heart from my chest.
(It wasn't blood that flowed,
dried up petals crumbled)
'I can't stop seeing other girls', you confessed
as I broke my nails
trying to remove the roots
of our once evergreen garden
(I didn't want any traces of you to be left.)
'I don't think we should talk anymore', you finalized
as I fell to my knees and watched our garden rot.
The only thing left
was the daisy you remembered
as my favorite, because even
if you wanted nothing to do with me,
you wanted to make sure I didn't forget you.
A cruel burden.
(My heart has been nothing but a desert since you've been gone.)

Author's Note

Luna's Words
This is just something I came up with. I don't think I really care for criticism as it is my poem and the only person who can tell me how good or bad it is, is myself. However anything else is welcome. Thank you. x
