Remember?

Remember?

A Poem by Lunar Lightning

I used to wait for you to come home in that big rocking chair

But that was so long ago

Back when it was only you, mom, and me

Before you had my sister, before our family was split in two

Remember?

I used to think you were superman and as long as you were her I was safe

But that was long ago

Back when you and I were as close as could be

Before you had too little time for me, before I thought you wouldn't be there to pick me up if I fell

Remember?

I used to cry myself to sleep at night and wish you were there

But that was long ago

Back when you were a hero to me

Before you pushed me to the edge of your mind, before our family grew

Remember?

I used to look forward to spending my time with you

It wasn't that long ago

Back when even a little of your time was set aside for me

Before you seemed to not know me, before I was alone

But I suppose you wouldn't remember

I'm sorry Toni. That your life was what mine could have been. That you were the favorite, and you got thrown to the side. I'm sorry. You can't miss what you never had.
