Drowning in Hidden Tears

Drowning in Hidden Tears

A Poem by Lunar Lightning

I am usually so careful to keep up a smile

To try my best and to care

But today just feels different

I'm drowning in hidden tears

My mind keeps going back to all those things

Things that I should have cried about

Yet I pushed them aside, put on a smile, and now

I'm drowning in hidden tears

Slowly I feel my heartbeat

It's sound smothers the world around me

I can feel myself sinking into the darkest depression

I'm drowning in hidden tears

The day drags on like a merciless punishment

I feel cold on the inside

Like my soul is losing life

I'm drowning in hidden tears

Everybody feels like that sometimes. I liked this poem. ;p

Yes, the days of "just going through the motions". You've really captured the essence of that suffocating feeling, despite the happy face we must show to the world around us.

I know the feeling, honestly, I do. Nobody ever notices, do they? They never come up and ask you what's wrong; embrace you in a tight grip that banishes the cold. They all continue with their own lives. And the world keeps turning, only you're not in it.

I really like the repeating line in this piece, it really helps add to the over all drama of the poem. Good job! :)
