Chapter 18

 

         After the hours to be in the courtyard were up, guards came to take everyone back to their rooms. Two guards brutally dragged the girls to their room and just threw them inside. Since both of them were still in bad condition they just laid there on the floor unconscious like rag dolls. Chloe was partially on one cot and Arnina was completely on the floor.

 

        The second Aaron got a chance to leave his room, he took it. He made his way through the hall carefully avoiding the guards with Heather’s help. The cameras were not a problem because Heather had them playing the same thirty seconds over and over. When he got to the girls’ room he let himself in so he could help them the best he could. He moved them both on their cots and put blankets on them and tried to make them as comfortable as possible, but he just didn’t know what to do.

 

        He thought that Chloe would be fine, but he was worried since it was unusual for her not to have woken up by now. “It was just a presentation, most have us have gone through them, but with her special powers the intensity must have been greater. Arnina might have saved her life, but at the price of her own? There is something really different about these girls. I think they are to stubborn to die, I will give it a few days.” He thought, satisfied that only time will tell.

 

       He made his way back to the nurses’ station where Heather was busy typing away. She checked the schedules and knew when it was safe to do this sort of thing, luckily there is always little to no security at night. The security relies solely on the cameras and the hi-tech equipment that Heather can control easily.

 

       “Hey Heather.” He said quietly.

      

       She jumped and then saw it was him and calmed down and said, “Oh sorry. Are we going back to our rooms now?”

 

       “Not quite yet, I want Jade to stay in Arnina and Chloe’s room tonight. Can you program it to do the replay thing again in the morning when she needs to get back to her room?” he asked.

 

       “Yes, but doesn’t this risk the morning guards finding out…I mean if they look at the monitors and it is playing the same thing over and over.” She said.

 

       “They probably won’t notice. Jade will leave about an hour before wakeup call. It is important that the girls are watched, it is the first time something like this has happened. Most of the time there is the other roommate to take care of the injured one, but they both are unconscious.” He said with worry.

 

       “I’ll do it, just tell her to be careful.” Heather muttered lost in the computer.

 

       “I will.” Aaron said and took off in the direction of Jade’s room.

 

       When he got there he knocked on the door and opened it when he heard someone reply. He was greeted by an unhappy Rachel, Jade’s roommate. He saw Jade in the background sound asleep.

 

       “What is it now?” Rachel moaned.

 

       “Well I was going to have Jade look after Arnina and Chloe, but I shouldn’t wake her.” He said.

 

       “Oh its okay, I’ll wake her. She thought you would ask her to do this so she decided that she should get as much some sleep as possible.” said Rachel walking up to Jade and waking her up by hitting and yelling at her.

 

       Jade didn’t wake up to easily but in a few minutes she was out the door with Aaron ready to pull an all nighter to look after the girls.

 

       “Well you can borrow my keycard for tonight, okay?” Aaron said as they walked to Arnina and Chloe’s room.

 

       “Kay Kay, I love using that thing.” she said with a smile.

 

       “Just don’t lose it, remember what I had to do to get it? He asked using his serious voice hoping she was listening to him.

 

       “Oh I remember! I will be careful!” she announced and snatched the keycard from his hand. He sighed but left her with few warnings as she entered the girls’ room. He made his way back to Heather and then they both headed back to their rooms.

       Jade sat down in between the cots and starred intently at the pale faces of Arnina and Chloe. “I hope they wake up soon, I can’t stay up all night tomorrow too. Maybe they are having good dreams…like I could be right now.” She thought and yawned. “Oh well at least Aaron can’t yell at me for not participating anymore…lets see him do this!” she smiled taking the girls’ hands.

 

        “Come on guys, heal!” she said and looked around and sighed when she saw no change. She grumbled about her stupid healing powers and got up to walk around the small room so she wouldn’t fall asleep.

 

         “Ugh…mmh.” Chloe groaned.

 

         “Waah!” yelled Jade and turned around to see Chloe’s eyes opening. “Chloe! How are you? Can you hear me?” Jade gushed as she knelt beside Chloe.

 

         “W-where am I?” Chloe muttered.

 

         “In your room, your fine now, everything’s fine.” Jade comforted.

 

          “Where’s Arnina?” Chloe asked.

 

          “Well Arni is right here but she isn’t awake yet. I’m sure she will wake up soon.” Jade said.

 

          “Is she alright? I know what she did to save me, it hurt her.” worried Chloe trying to lift her head to see Arnina.

 

           “Lie down, go back to sleep. Arni will be fine.” Jade promised.

 

           Chloe did as she said and almost instantly fell asleep. She still had a long way to go from recovery, but this was proof that she would recover. Jade was so happy that Chloe was better but felt bad that she had promised something she wasn’t sure was completely true. “I just hope she wakes up, Arni needs to wake up.” Jade thought and curled up laid there holding Arnina’s hand for the rest of the night.

I like the chapter. The control of cameras and the description is making the story stronger. With power come great fear and more control. A very interesting chapter. I like the pace and the conversation of the story.

You could say taking instead of took. I really like Jade! She seems likeshe would b a great friend! ^^

Same sentence needs a question mark. 4. healing powers and got up to walk around the small room SHE SO wouldn’t fall asleep. My goodness you give her powers and then kill her you are a serious meanie. Oh well it is still my favorite thing on this website. Keep writing. :)
