ElementsA Poem by MaryElements The ice Tickled at my flesh Leaving redness where it went It made me cry It made me wish I could die But my warmth only brought its demise The fire Takes me in its path I become nothing but ash I don’t get to think before I die It is an all consuming wrath But death by fire is not my path The air Truly doesn’t care It is an invisible force It is here and there And everywhere I must not get caught in the air Or I will be blown everywhere So lucky that I too don’t care The water Puts out my fire And melts my ice It slithers deep inside There is nowhere I can hide I have no breath This is not though my true death The earth It crumbles by my touch But can stand so much It is not victim to the ice And does not burn with my strife The waters is just fun Until it dries up in the sun So earth is the only one That can consume me Until I am truly done
