OthernessA Poem by MaryThe blank page Shows my thoughts Meaningless, nothing How can I claim to exist? When I have nothing to show The constant question “What am I?” Is all that I am How can this uncertainty Rule me so? That is what I would like to know. I tend to think of myself As purely an experiment gone wrong My purpose was lost in my creation Forever tarnished by my otherness I am certain of the existence of the otherness I do have the proof But it is only mine I do not feel like I have to prove Myself to you or anyone else The perfect people only bring out The otherness that marks me As the prey of the day But I refuse to bow down To the perfect monsters For perfection doesn’t cover up their evil And evil they are So I say to The creatures of tomorrow Rejoice Because the otherness is here to stay For yet another lonely day. © 2010 MaryAuthor's Note
