Ode to the ButterflyA Poem by Sophieanother poem about- you guessed it- innocence!Oh, butterfly, the image of innocence, hatched from it's cocoon, not knowing any wickedness.
But soon, your wings will dry, soon, you'll have to fly, and then learn of danger, and of being prey, for the birds hunt today.
Your colorful wings dull from use, from wear and tear, the patterns fade from abuse, yes, it is unfair.
'Tis unfair that beauty must be stolen, unfair that innocence cannot reign golden. Because soon, the butterfly's life comes to an end, because innocence always expends. © 2012 SophieAuthor's Note
