A Battle Cry

A Battle Cry

A Poem by Sophie

A raven sits on the windowsill

watching with forest green eyes

she plots

humanity's demise

She turns away

and fades to smoke

in wisps of grey

her plan is plotted,

enough time allotted,

for her to defeat the human race

without ever showing her true face

Tomorrow, at dawn

her battle cries will stop the bird song

the raging floods and towering flames block the sun

Mother Nature takes back her reign

in vengeance for all her creatures slain.

She will take back her Earth

for the mortals she birthed

she will give the birds new reason to sing,

new reason to fly and take wing,

Not for warning,

not to flee,

but just for the joy

of being free

from frightening, soulless

humanity.

Some of nature can get stronger with the human abuse of the planet. I believe some of nature will survive after man is gone. The poem tell a powerful story. Would be interesting to know what the bird's think of our action and deeds?

This one has really great meaning as you talk about the world we live in daily. Sometimes if people just take a second to stop, think, and listen, they actually learn a thing or two. I like the storyline here about mother nature taking conform once more and it's thoughts like these that should keep the human race on it's toes just in case some creature out there is really planning our downfall.
Nice topic, nice meaning, nice descripitions, nice rhythm, nice words, and just all in all, a really nice poem.

Interesting twist that you write humanity as the villain to nature and earth. The empowered mother nature taking back her gifts and destroying the infidels. Good job.

Wow, I think this is definitely one of your bests! I like how you put everything together, the flow is really cool and so is the rhyme. The idea behind it all is just powerful. It sounds very strong and frightening, but then happy and serene.

And it's bound to happen. It's nice when I hear other humans tap into the universe like that. I too believe that Ravens are the masters of the earth. The ultimate survivalists. THIS is a cool poem.

That was powerful. I had always thought, if that were to happen, the whole kill-off-humanity thing, I wouldn't put up a fight. I'd be sort of happy that the earths infection of humans would finally be healed. Amazing, well done :)

Very cute though the sentence structure and the rhyming make the flow a bit jarring at times. :D
