Fake Stars

Fake Stars

A Poem by Sophie

Stars now hang from tall stands of metal

Exotic animals are deer

Flowers are bread to have the prettiest petals

Is nothing sacred?

Is nothing natural?

Has the world been too filled

with crime and hatred?

The stars that supposedly dominate the sky

Will I ever see them?

Or only the ones

that come from airplanes, flying with the birds' eye

The animals of the world

silently mourn

the loss of all that is green

and replaced with gold

and the loss of many

of their brothers unseen.

Plant life, once natural and free

has been changed to be

uniform, and what we want to see

The world, green and blue

filled with life and prosperity

has been altered to a different hue

and now natural things

are a rarity.

Makes you wonder where it all ends. Will anything ever be real again? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Very beautiful and true. The more advanced we become, the less natural we become. I really like this poem, well done!

Yes, the world has turned fake, and I can clearly see what you imply here, fake stars hanging. Natural beauties are now man-made beauties, natural songs are now auto tuned. And though we revel in all that luxury, it's all man-made, and we may realize it too late. There are some people keen on restoring that natural habitats, humans are starting to realize, but then, the damage is done. I like this poem, it is sort of an eye opener for all those disasters that we're creating. Last night, when I looked at the sky from my urban home, I barely saw any stars. There was one, I think, maybe that was a planet.

wow, very beautiful and full of truth. what have people done to this world? why cant we just let everything be natural. sure, inventions and advances in medicine and science are good, its all great. but too much is not. great way to get that point across!

Great poem! I hate what we do to our planet...I despise zoos...I think they are cruel... a manicured garden is nice..but seeing plants in their natural habitat is a grand sight !
I know i crave to feel the land its a need really...man must connect to the flora and fauna ...we need each other ...

An interesting meaning indeed, and maybe not too far away. I enjoyed the start with stars, they opened it where it's at in time and hinting at the meaning right there. "has been altered to a different hue" That line, and the lines above, I really liked those. For me those were the ones that really held the meaning, and the rhyming worked nicely with that.

The more civilized the world becomes, the less natural it stays.
