Soldier

The soldiers feet stomp

the sound mixing in with the thousands of others

he is one

out of many brothers

The dog tag shines

showing his honor and bravery

his skin is tanned

but covered in sand, feeling papery

His eyes are cold,

the thoughts behind them unheard

he's worried that war

is ruining humanity's one world.

Soldiers do what they must. Then if we are lucky. We can forget. I like the story in this poem. I stood with Soldiers in many places. We don't complain. Most of us had volunteers and knew where we would end. I did like the ending statement. Hard to keep humanity in war. Thank you for the outstanding poem.
