A poem about music, I play the piano and I used to play the saxophone.
Sweet notes fill the air Swirl and dance Without a care Unable to realize That they have Such short-lived lives
The sweet sound fades and starts again The iv’ry keys pressing in, then The bow slides across the strings Soft and singing Another violin Joins in And more and more Harmony and melody blend and soar
Cymbals clash, crash, smash A reverberating sound Then quiet.
Boom. Boom. Boom. The bass drum Brass, horns and trombones Crescendo
The instruments pick up And the notes dance across the lines Jump and spin and curve and fly The maestro conducts and weaves The magic of the music as it cries
Forte! The melody hits its peak Violin hum Boom goes the drum The notes of the piano speak Bass buzzes, and trombone Moans, groans, and drones Trumpet rasps And just like that Peace. The peace of the piano Decrescendo
Violins sing With their bows Flying across the strings Each key on the piano has been pressed And in a last crack The sound roars, Its head high Fighting for life, Fighting to be free It soars Then suddenly Caged. Stopped. Gone. And the lingering dancers Whisper on Until the last vibration is done Silence.
I liked this poem too. It kinda reminds me of a movie I watched about Ludwig Van Beethoven. It was called Immortal Beloved. I was a great movie I was about Him lol and he had written a letter to his Beloved and it was believed by everyone that he loved only himself and his music which wasn't true. He had many loves women and music were included. After his his death one of this friends had found this letter and was determined to find this women and give her this letter. Anyway, It goes on and shows how he came up with the music he wrote and how throughout his life different women had influenced his music. Well, this poem reminded me of that movie. The booms and the last line Until the last vibration is done Silence. Just genius! Sorry for kinda taking a turn to a movie but It really did remind me of that movie. Great Poem :)

I think its my favourite poem that you've ever written too! I love how much knowledge you put into the poem about music but also how you show your interpretation of music being a living, breathing thing. It comes across as innocent, not in the world long enough to know anything else. The first stanza? Where you mention how they are unaware of how short lived the notes are. It's just such an interesting idea and point of view on it. Then at the end, silence isn't the absence of music, rather... music being caged and held back. Wonderful
Wow I can see why it was your favorite at the time, and i can also see why "Life's Mortal Shell" took over.
This is definitely one of your best, the way you described everything was excellent. I love how you advanced through a piece and described each separate part and the effect they had. Really nice job.
A amazing poem. I had to read again for the strength of the words. I like the flow of thoughts and the beautiful use of language. No weakness in this outstanding poetry.

I liked this stanza the best. This is very very well written. I used to play the piano as well. This is very expressive, and you can feel every movement and sound. I liked it. Nice work.
It is your best work I've read, hands down. You apply both knowledge of the musical theory as well as literary elements that gave me tingles;D. I don't know if you meant it to have an inner meaning, but I see one regardless. The fleeting lives we live and how our high point is our crescendo=D lovin it. Guess i'm kinda a nerd for play on words and applied knowledge in literary pieces. "Until the last vibration is done" reminds me of both the end of a musical piece(obviously) and also the last vibration of a heartbeat. This should be entered into many contests. www.pw.org. Amazing site for writers, plenty of chances for publication and a lot of free contests, I use it a lot but i've yet to win anything=p. Maybe you should try! Again, amazing work.
