Yearning

Yearning

A Poem by Sophie
"

My heart and soul in a little over a page.

"

This heart of mine,

it was made for flight.

-

People ask me why I read and write,

and I answer 'to take a break from life'.

But what if I said that's a lie?

And I do it to live another for a while?

-

Have you ever wanted something so bad your heart hurt?

And you feel like it will rip open your chest, through your shirt,

and just scream your secrets and dreams to the world?

What if you want it to?

-

In the land of far, far away,

nothing is ever grey.

I want to live there,

where the world is not this one,

I don't care what it's like,

as long as it's under a different sun.

-

I need to leave this house,

I need to say goodbye to this town.

Not want, need.

I've memorized every branch on every tree,

I know exactly where the sun rises everyday,

but only if I could just leave.

And fly.

Maybe then, I could find a real reason to cry.

-

I want to go on adventures,

and fly in the seas,

and go where the leaves are always green.

I want to see where the earth meets the sky,

where the universe ends,

where no one has gone before,

where the unknown begins.

I want to discover a new color,

dream up a new reality,

roam with the Mars Rover,

and wish beyond practicality.

-

This heart of mine,

it was made for flight.

So relatable, this was just beautifully written, and I know you're not the only one who feels this way. A need that's gone so far that it practically changes you..unwraps you just to satisfy itself. You displayed such an emotional topic in a great piece.
I so agree with all he words here and am so glad you wrote this

I LOVE THIS. It was written perfectly. To want to go and experience the world. To escape from the place you are, to a place youd rather be. Its an amazing read. 100/100

These could be my exact words. Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in my tiny little town.
