A Broken Bird Sings A Broken Song

A Broken Bird Sings A Broken Song

A Poem by Sophie
"

Dedicated to Amanda, one of my best friends. This poem is about her... but... as a bird... yeah.

"

A song of hope escapes the lips of the broken bird

she puts her sorrow, her anger, into every word.

The song of hope she sings, but cannot hear

she only feels the sadness, only feels her fear

She is blind, deaf to the things around her,

Only knows what she feels, the broken bird.

Her song is envied by many a flier,

they just don't know all she feels is fire.

The broken bird sings her broken song,

as she flies blindly, fleeing dawn.

And as she flies into the night,

something fades in, her sight.

Then she hears the song she sings,

as she flies with her broken, mangled wings.

She turns around to face the sun.

And replaces her tune, for a new, happier one.

It was like witnessing a journey. A journey of such great representation as you use the sun and broken wings to symbolize the light and the dark, the good and the bad, and the hope and nightmares. This is a really good dedication, I think mentioning that helps people connect better and realize that inspiration comes from people in/and the world around us.
Nice poem Sophie

I did like the direction of the poem, and the rhyme scheme felt very natural and not forced. I love the use of the bird and the song; excellent work.
