Galena SunriseA Poem by .:Lu:.A poem I thought of, based on a real Galena sunrise.
I wake up, the clocks says it's three past four
But I don't care how early I wake, I'm up for one thing, And that thing is soon. It's dark as I slip down the stairs, Thump, thump, thump, thump.... I softly step from step...to step And keep my voice just as silent. The darkness outside looks like pitch to others But to me, I see something else In just a few minutes, it will rise And beauty itself will show again. I walk to the grass and pull up my knees And try to ignore the bone-chilling dew It might take hours, but I have no care Because I have waited, and I will again. I see the sun creep slowly up And I hold my breath, waiting A minute later, it pulls up higher Like a glittering gem, slowly climbing I close my eyes, and they open again To the brilliant sunrise, just starting With oranges, yellows, purples and reds Shaded so balanced, so beautiful, so tranquil I think for a moment about a sunrise like this And what I did to see it again I realize, that moment, what it might mean So I go inside, and start to write. © 2011 .:Lu:. |
