Too many of us are crying Too many of us are dying Too many of us are all alone Too many of us don't have a home Too many of us don't have a dad Too many of us are always sad Too many of us are in the church but yet we're still full of hurt Too many of us are being ignored until we walk out the church doors Too many of us need someone to hold instead what get, is a shoulder that's cold
Jesus said "let the children come unto me" What happend to that? and whats going to happen to me?
Dedicated to all the children, who have fallen through the cracks.
Well, the construction of this and repetition really drive the point home, sir.. wow.. yep.. this one is raw, real, and powerful.. It is TOO DANG MANY of us that fell through those cracks.. I know.. I was one.. I grew up in the foster care system and eventually ended up in a girls home until I was 18 and if left to the state, would have had a dozen kids and started the cycle over again.. It took courage, guts, and steel to claw my way from the gutters.. and I know exactly what it feels like to not have that home, to feel alone, to go to sleep crying each night, to be ignored, looked over, neglected, abused.. and always holding on to that small ounce of HOPE that some angel would save me.. Now, I volunteer at a children's home, never allowing any of them to feel this way... I also work part time at an adolescent psychiatric residential facility and help those kids who have had trauma, abuse, or mental disorder to feel like they MATTER... You never know what ONE small act of kindness means to another SOUL....
This is a beautiful write sir.. Thank you so much for sharing with me.. You truly have a wonderful, bright spirit and it shines through your work.. awesome...

You're more than welcome... It was my pleasure.. and thank you:)
I don't usually care for that much repetition in a poem, but it lights the horrible truth and sets it upfront and personal....I have a special affinity for poetry about children, this one hit home. Well done Luis.
