Familia

"Familia" such a small word

with such a big meaning

Some people are related by blood

while others are bound together by love

Some, not many, are fortunate enough

to have both

 

Growing up, we played together, we prayed

together, we cried, and some even died

but through in through, the one thing

that was constant was our love

for one another

 

We were family

and no matter what life threw at us

that was never going to change

 

No longer children

but now grown men with families of our own

You would think that time and distance

would make us outgrow each other

 

This couldn't be further from the truth

because no matter how much time has gone by

or how far away we've gone

because we are brothers, nothing has ever changed

 

Because we're real family "familia"

we stick by each other, no matter what

Even when we feel our back is against the wall

and our whole world is caving in

We know, its gonna be alright

because we have each other

 

because we're true family, we will always be there

whether it be physically, spiritually, or emotionally

we will always have each others backs

we love without condition and

we don't know the meaning of

giving up

 

Though there is no such thing...

as the perfect family

I cannot imagine my life without mine
