Loneliness

Loneliness

A Poem by Luissanto
"

Written by Louis Saint Verges

"

It seemed so funny to him

he'd been alone his whole life

but not once had he ever

 known loneliness

How pathetic he felt, walking through

the night with his only companion

being his thoughts. He had truly

become his father's son

He had inherited his father's legacy...

a legacy of pain.

He tried to cry, but he couldn't

Even tears refused to keep him company

Loneliness had become his soulmate

and sadness and regret had become

his traveling companions

It seemed like he'd been traveling forever

How did he get here, he wondered

and where was he gong?

Would anyone ever really know him?

Would anyone ever scratch the surface

to find out, who he really was?

So many questions, so little answers

The only thing he did know

was that even though he'd been alone

most of his life...

He had never known loneliness until now

Awesome one! Still having goosebumps :)
The person you created triggers a lot of curiosity-
"He had truly
become his father's son
He had inherited his father's legacy...
a legacy of pain." strikes a thought about how his family could have treated him, had he not even known a mother's love?

"Loneliness had become his soulmate
and sadness and regret had become
his traveling companions" love-lorn, ditched by friends or just kept himself away from attachments?

A lot more questions and finally the truth haunts
You could stand in a crowd yet be lonely or be alone somewhere yet have a world with you.

keep writing :)

Your words bless me deeply...
I have been alone most of my life and sometimes find comfort and solace in being by myself, only sometimes do I truly FEEL lonely... I admit, I don't help the situation out since being an adult.. It is easier this way... It is EASIER to be alone.. to not let anyone in.. True no one really takes the time to LOOK... they don't TRY to see what lies inside of me... they just see what is on the outside.. usually that is fine... but sometimes... This feels like a curse... like no one ever will WANT to... sometimes my heart cries out in revolt... in protest.. it wants to FEEL... it wants to have another see it, love it.. want it.. hold it... share it... it can be so overwhelming when those thoughts creep in, when that feeling hits... finally after enduring it for a while, the numbness comes back... the loneliness goes away again.. and being alone is nothing.... it is a cycle that is both a comfort and a curse... Very nicely expressed here sir.. As with all of your work, you are honest, REAL, and make the reader FEEL....

I love all, your poems Luis, this is no exception.
Always so emotional ...
In this one I wonder at the ending, it leaves us something to think about.
Does he know loneliness now, because now he has opened his heart to loving and feeling?
Really great write.
