A Poem by Maria Morisot

A key to my heart,

for you have allowed me

entrance into yours.

The Summer's dandelions

are in full bloom here,

and the spine of your book,

unleashes a dragon.

The ships arrive,

billowing with wind;

their masters

wear the skulls of

saints, upon their flags.

Your Catholic skirt,

billows too; as

your bow and violin,

soothe heady heartache.

And draws to me a crowd,

upon your silence,

who wonder at your words of wisdom.

Silence is often the greatest wisdom. I loved your pairing of what many would take as incongruent images "skulls of saints" "Catholic shirt" these set the tone and leave the mind to explore the many options for interpretation. One of my favorite lines was "and the spine on your book unleashes a dragon" Nicely done.
